What is Music with Mummy?

What is Music with Mummy? Music with Mummy is a structured programme of pre-school music education which has been running successfully since 1992. Every week in Exmouth and Topsham there is a fun music and singing session that is designed specifically for the toddlers and pre-school children. Each weekly session is carefully structured and class sizes are kept deliberately small and personal. Sessions run in half termly blocks. Each block has a story theme e.g. Homes and a musical theme e.g. loud and soft. Activities in the classes are built upon week on week around the two themes for the half term.
	The Songs The songs are a mixture of nursery rhymes, traditional songs and original songs especially composed for Music with Mummy. Many songs have simple actions and movements to accompany them. So many of the songs soon become the children's favourites and you will find yourselves singing them at home, in the car, with other family members ...
Benefits of Music with Mummy The benefits of the music classes for the children are huge. They are structured to: encourage in children the idea that music is a pleasurable social activity; encourage listening skills, essential not only in music but in all other areas of learning; develop a sense of rhythm through movement, games and the use of simple instruments; provide early training in singing; introduce some basic concepts such as 'stop and start', 'loud and soft', 'up and down;' have fun and make new friends.
